|7/18/2017||Buffalo General Medical Center Steps Up Quality Improvement Efforts by Joining National Surgical Quality Improvement Program|
Kaleida Health always strives to provide the highest quality care and look for ways to improve safety and outcomes for patients. To help identify these areas for improvement, Buffalo General Medical Center (BGMC) recently joined the American College of Surgeons National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (ACS NSQIP) for its adult surgical programs.
|7/17/2017||The Gates Vascular Institute Participates in the ELEVATE IDE Study|
The Gates Vascular Institute (GVI) has been selected as a site for a new clinical study for the ELEVATE IDE, which stands for Expanding Patient Applicability with PoLymer SEaling OVATion Alto StEnt Graft, sponsored by Endologix, Inc. the manufacturer of the Ovation Abdominal Stent Graft Systems. The GVI is the first in New York State and second in the Northeast, behind Massachusetts General Hospital, to implant the device in a patient enrolled in the trial.

DeGraff Memorial Hospital will break ground next month on its $7.8 million Emergency Department renovation. Coinciding with the upgraded Emergency Department, Kaleida Health has unveiled “DeGraff 2020,” its plan for the future state of the North Tonawanda hospital.
|7/12/2017||Young Boy Reunited with Kaleida Health Surgeons Who Helped Save His Life|
Seven year old Kaeden Mitchell, who was viciously attacked by two dogs on June 7, reunited with the physicians from Children’s Hospital and Gates Vascular Institute who helped save his life today. Kaeden, who had several major surgeries and recovered at WCHOB, underwent the first pediatric stent reconstruction of a dissected vertebral artery in the nation.

Representatives of Women & Children’s Hospital of Buffalo joined Assemblyman Ray Walter at a press conference to celebrate the start of this year’s Christmas in July Toy Drive on Monday, June 26. The charitable endeavor, currently in its sixth year, offers Western New Yorkers the opportunity to channel the holiday spirit over the next several weeks, with all donations going directly to children struggling with illness.
